The first is from The New York Times:
- Why Blog? Reason No. 92: Book Deal – A copywriter starts a blog in January called Stuff White People Like and scarcely 3 months later Random House drops $300K (!!!!) to purchase the rights to the author’s first book.
The second is from Springwise, a site that collects new and interesting business ideas from around the world and brings the creme de la creme into digestible newsletter format:
- Storytelling with Google Maps – UK-based Penguin Books’ digital fiction group launched a site where visitors can enjoy six digital novels by six different authors over the course of six weeks for free. One of these stories follows the protagonist’s adventures using Google Maps. Another story features the use of blogs and Twitter, and a third story is interactive where visitors can name characters, choose qualities, and help shape the direction of the story – call it the ‘choose your own adventure’ novel of the 21st century.
